Hello Poppodom cafe family! Been so busy doing podcasting and community radio presenting! I still only use my recipes in the Poppodom Cafe Family's Artistically Served & Culinary Creations, and they are perfect for a small buffet at the moment for one household because of the Covid 19 restrictions. Lunch: Shepherds Pie with a cheese topping

When it comes to eating British food there is for most part, a 'history' behind it. 'Oh, you are having Shepherd's Pie' 'Yes it reminds me of having Shepherd's Pie with chips at school'. It is like British desserts. I would not have chosen a crumble and custard, Bread and Butter pudding or semolina and rice pudding if it were not for 'school dinners'. The question is always, Why? If it is fish and chips, it is mushy peas or another sides. It must be the island effect and the weather.

Quinoa with yam and tomatoes vegetarian stew

Quinoa is a nice alternative to grains like rice which is starchy. I was not going to post this dish as it does not look appetising but it is! Yam is starchy too so I rarely eat it but the independent shopkeeper offered it for £1.50 for the kilo, which was an excellent bargain! Happy eating all and now that most shops have re-opened, happy shopping!

Chicken stew lasagna

I wanted to get the beef from the shop with the name of a country but only a few packets were left and the Best before date was in 2 days so I got the chicken fillets and made lasagna for lunch. Lasagna is probably part of British cuisine for where ever I go, lasagna is on the menu. I can see why. Happy eating all!

Big Bus Company sightseeing tours around London

(c) nature thoughts nw I haven't done a Google review of the Big Bus Company because I haven't been on any of their sightseeing tours yet! If I had to take a group around London's main attractions, I would now include this bus tour as I see them often on the busy London roads!

Pain aux raisins at Pret A Manger and Godfrey the Gingerbread Man, South of the River Thames

(c) nature thoughts nw Pret A Manger, Mitcham Road, South West London Pain aux raisin with tea is a combination I have, for years, found the perfect mid morning break. Prets does it very well and the tea has its own characteristics, like many places, so with one place, it's their chocolate muffin and tea or at another place it's their sourdough bread with tea. Everything with tea... Now it's Godfrey the Gingerbread Man as a complimentary gift because its head was broken. Lol. (Which by the way is very nicely done. Thumbs up to Godfrey!)

Minced beef and chorizo pizza

I cannot replicate pizzas made in restaurants but mine will do for breakfast. A good many shops have minced beef value packs and the shop that sounds like Geordie does a good deal double pack. For breakfast though it is unusual but when you are used to eating a midnight snack, it becomes a special breakfast. If I had some space in my stomach I would get the Neopolitan ice cream from the shop with the name of a country. Happy eating all!

Chips on its own

I tried just getting chips many a time from the chippy but I would always end up getting fish with it. I know many go to the chippy and get just chips because it is filling on its own but surely you cannot just go to the chippy and not get fish? You would not think shop-bought chips would taste good all the time but these chips are from the shop with the name of a country and it is their brand for just the right price. I do not have any fish in the fridge nor bacon although I have some eggs so it was chips for breakfast. NOoooo! Chips on its own is like a meal in itself but if you veer towards the healthier meals, then this is not for you. Happy chip-eating!

Chicken stew and rice

Stews and anything goes! I don't usually get a batch of vegetables unless I will be eating it all that week as vegetables even in the fridge goes off very quickly. Potatoes, if not eaten within a week goes greenish at the edges and start to sprout leaves so a few weeks ago I tried freezing boiled potato cubes and I found out that it was too soft and mushy after being in the freezer. The stewed chicken looks like a Chicken Korma but it is creamed chicken (stew) bought in batches from that shop with a country name. Happy eating all!

Neopolitan ice cream and a rum topping

When it comes to ice cream, Neopolitan ice cream is somewhere in my top 3 ice creams with the Viennetta ice cream lolly sticks very close to the top. I do not have an ice cream maker and I wanted to add some rum (gifted) to it. Raisons would have been even better but I did not get raisins at the same place I got this ice cream for almost the price of a mini chicken burger at one of the known high street restaurants. It is a shop with a country name. The rum adds that special flavour only rum can do. Happy eating ice cream (all day if I could)!
